A great time in a writer’s life is the completion of a novel. But there are many such ‘completions’ … and the 1st draft is one of many before the final version is ready for publication. This week I’ll have written the last word in the epilogue of Trinity’s Fall, and so the story arc for this novel is ‘complete’. I’ll then go back to the beginning and read it as a novel on Scriviner (what a great writing tool, by the way!) for the first time, checking for syntax, plot holes, story velocity etc, etc, before printing it as a word document to read once more. Then it’ll be off to get professional structural analysis and my Beta readers involved. In the meantime, I’m getting the cover design started and will be putting together a little stall for the Supanova exhibition in November. Then it’ll be copyediting and formatting for epub and paperback, hopefully all in time for Christmas!
Oh, and in the meantime, I still have another full time job … well, better busy than bored!
